Here in Ballygarvan NS we are mad about chess. So much so we've recently set up a chess club and hosted our first Chess Tournament, which was a huge success.

A chess club was set up at the start of the 2019/2020 academic year by Mr Budds and Mr O'Mahony for pupils from 3rd to 6th classes. Outside their classrooms they have put together a Chess Challenge board, which is used to inform all students of Ballygarvan about the rules of chess and how all the pieces move and attack.

The board is also used to pose problems to pupils that they can solve. Over the coming weeks we will use this space to upload the challenges and puzzles for you to solve at home. You can use the form below to type in your solutions and a prize will be given to a random correct answer each time the puzzle changes.
